Stowing my bow behind my back, I quickly crossed the expanse of land before me, heading toward Allegra and the kitsune. Allegra’s skin was abnormally pale and ashen, and a sheen of sweat covered her face. Her black clothes were torn and ripped across her lower stomach, and blood soaked into the fabric where a fresh, angry scar marred her skin. But she’s alive! It was remarkable she could use her magic to heal, truly amazing. I could feel a slight twinge now and then as I felt her unconsciously pull strands of energy from me to help replenish her supply. It was incredible how her body seemed to only pull enough to sustain her, without draining the rest of my energy to the point of incapacitation.

Stepping past her, I squatted in front of the softly whimpering kitsune. Her thick, white coat was matted and stained with blood. Her mouth hung slightly open as she panted, fighting off the pain of two of her tails being torn from her body. I picked up the tail Arya had dropped for her, tucking it under my arm, then took a deep breath. Poor girl, I can’t imagine the pain she had to endure. Gathering her in my arms, I noticed a silver collar tight around her neck. Damn fae, they forced a silver collar on her to prevent her from shifting back into her human form— which would allow her to heal—forcing her to slowly bleed out while they attacked her for sport. Colin stepped up beside us, holding Mason’s large form in fireman’s carry. His face was expressionless and his eyes void of emotion, as he spoke, “I don’t know what the hell that whole situation was, but it’s not a good sign that bastard keeps showing up.”

Seeing the demon who had almost killed me, I felt numb. Instead of being scared or angry, it was almost like my emotions were completely turned off. The only thing that mattered was covering and protecting my team. Thankfully, he didn’t seem to be out for blood today. Suddenly, something sparked in my mind, reminding me of Harper’s orders back in the Under Realm a week ago. Something Allegra had been worried about when she spoke to me while I was unconscious. Blood. Turning back, I looked at the spot where Allegra had been lying. Blood soaked the grass and the dagger was lying beside it. Looking back at where Mason had lain, I couldn’t see any blood.

“Harper,” I called out, concerned as I watched her struggle as she tried to not jostle Allegra. “What about the blood? And the dagger?”

Understanding crossed her face and she blinked rapidly. “Yes, I can’t believe I almost made that mistake! Elias, when you are the last one, can you destroy any
